Presentation #ColeSeguro

From Espai Societat Oberta we invite you to the presentation of the initiative #ColeSeguro – For a safe and transparent education promoted by Political Watch together with Plataforma de Infancia. The success or failure of a safe return to school this year will be largely determined by the policies promoted by the administrations. Both within the framework of the respective competences and the means at the disposal of these policies. Also thinking about what resources, means and infrastructures all this would translate into in each of the more than 28,000 educational centres in Spain.

#ColeSeguro – Por una educación segura y transparente is a pilot test to create a citizen surveillance tool to see how schools are acting in the context of the COVID19 pandemic at a state level. After the presentation of the project, we will discuss transparency and access to information: what are the implications of not having information on public investment in education in the current context? or is ‘education in pandemic times’ a setback in terms of equity in education? Are those who were already at a disadvantage lagging behind? Is a basic minimum of education being guaranteed for all children?

In this public presentation we will learn more about how collective surveillance initiatives work from experts and will give guidelines for collecting data from the public.
