Global History from the South Seminar

At Espai Societat Oberta we will host the seminar Global History of the South. A formation thought for activists, entities and social movements, professionals of academy and university students with motivation for the qüestionadores theories. Seminar focused on combating racist discourses and practices, the Eurocentric, Westernist and Islamophobic outlook.

The seminar will also review the frameworks that build our memory and try to understand how politics, democracy and forms of discrimination work in the modern world. In this regard, from the organizing entities and Espai Societat Oberta we want to pose in common fundamental questions for the achievement of a less authoritarian, more democratic and intercultural world.

  • Session 1: Modern/colonial world systems, the unit of analysis and the question of social systems.
  • Session 2: 1492 a paradigm.
  • Session 3: Global History, Reorienting Coloniality

The Global History from the South seminar is organized by the Centre d’Estudis Interepistèmic Catalunya – Amèrica Llatina (CEICAL) in collaboration with Associació Intercultural Llatins per Catalunya and Agència de Comunicació Intercultural Itacat. It will be led by José Romero Losacco, decolonial activist, member of La Tregua – Migration and Art (MiA-Barcelona) and CEICAL researcher.
