The power of data to fight racism

9 November 2020 19:00 - 20:00

On 9 November we invite you to the online meeting The Power of Data to Fight Racism. An event organised by the Espai Societat Oberta within the framework of the Smart City Week in Barcelona.

Access to and collection of data from citizens is key to good municipal policy. Anti-racist movements believe that the collection of data disaggregated by race and ethnicity could make visible the discrimination suffered by racialised people. So why isn’t this being done? The collection of sensitive personal data may involve an added risk that needs to be discussed. This session will seek to provide food for thought.

With the participation of:

  • Thais Ruiz de Alda, Director of DigitalFems
  • Youssef M.Ouled, Journalist and researcher on the consequences of racism
  • Dani de Torres, Director RECI (Spanish Network of Intercultural Cities).

Online and live event at 7pm through the Smart City Week’s website. If you want to participate with questions or reflections you have to register. If you prefer, you can follow the event through the Ajuntament’s Youtube channel.
