Conversation: Intersectional Databases

20 May 2021 18:00 - 19:30

Save the data! On 20th May we invite you to a conversation on databases with an intersectional perspective that we are organising with Institut de Drets Humans de Catalunya. Is intersectional data collection an effective tool against racism?

In order to identify the intersectionalities present in society, which are often the cause of discrimination and inequality, it is essential to have data and information on the personal characteristics of the population. But at the same time, this is a controversial and problematic issue, given the risks and threats that the systematisation of this information can pose for individuals. The discussion will include the participation of:

  • Noemi Fernández, jurist of the Federation of Roma Associations of Catalonia.
  • Youssef M.Ouled, Journalist and researcher on the consequences of racism.
  • Miriam Hatibi, communications consultant and anti-racist activist.
  • Nicolás Marugan, Deputy Director of the Directorate General for Equality and Ethnic-Racial Diversity.

It will be an online event. Registrations for the event are now open in this link!
